Is Tai Lopez's SMMA program worth it? What his own page says, and what the public record says.

No SMMA price on the pages we could read; one buyer’s complaint says $1,000. Under the terms, all sales are final except hard goods.

No FTC case or ASA ruling turned up. One SEC civil case against Tai Lopez, over REV’s investors, waits on the Commission; nothing in it is decided.

It may suit an adult who runs a business and reads the terms before paying. Not someone who wants the price in writing before sharing their income and savings.

Written by Fewer Zeros. What we read: the seller’s public pages (tailopez.com: its help page, its program list and its terms; automationconsultant.ai, his AI Automation Consultant page) and the public record. We did not read the SMMA sales pages: the seller’s robots.txt closes them to automated readers. Nothing here is quoted from them, and you can open them yourself in a browser. We sell a written kit on some of the same subjects, so we compete with the program on this page. $27 US, one payment. All sales final. What the kit is

  • We did not review the SMMA sales pages, so nothing here is quoted from them. They may show a price.
  • The AI page’s form asks your “Current Annual Income”, your “Liquid Net Worth: (Cash In The Bank in US Dollars)” and at least 12 words about yourself. → automationconsultant.ai
  • Prices, when given, are in US dollars: “All advertised prices are in, and all payments shall be in, U.S. Dollars”. → tailopez.com terms
  • The seller named on the help page is Website Monetization, LLC, Reno, Nevada. → tailopez.com help

In their own words

  • The names on his pages: “Social Media Marketing Agency”, “SMMA 2.0” and “SMMA.30”, in the terms’ list of services the seller “may also offer” → tailopez.com, September 27, 2026.
“AI SMMA” in the site menu → tailopez.com/help.php, September 27, 2026.
    “AI Automation Consultant” → automationconsultant.ai, September 27, 2026
  • “Tai Lopez is an investor, partner, or advisor to over 20 multi-million dollar businesses.” → tailopez.com/help.php, September 27, 2026
  • The AI page’s headline asks “Want to Get Paid for AI?”, names a range of fees to charge business owners, and ends “Even as a Total Beginner”. → automationconsultant.ai, September 27, 2026
  • The small print at the foot of his pages names “Social Media Marketing Agency” among the “Tai Lopez Programs”. It calls their earnings and income representations “aspirational statements only of your earnings potential”. It says “testimonials and other examples used are exceptional, non-typical results”. → tailopez.com/help.php, September 27, 2026.
The terms add: “it is possible that you will not earn your investment back.” → tailopez.com, September 27, 2026
  • “All sales are deemed final except as provided in Section 6 of these Terms.” Section 6 gives a seven-day refund on “hard goods”, such as a book. → tailopez.com, last updated August 9, 2026, read September 27, 2026. The help page says a refund starts with the seller confirming your account, and refunds “usually take between 2-30 days” to reach your bank. Its link to a “Cancellation and Refund Policy” lands on the terms, which have no section by that name. → tailopez.com/help.php, September 27, 2026
  • Disputes: “ARBITRATION IS MANDATORY AND IS THE EXCLUSIVE REMEDY FOR ANY AND ALL DISPUTES” (capitals theirs). Except where the law forbids it, that arbitration is confidential and one buyer at a time, with no class action. Claims “must be brought within 1 year after the claim arises”. → tailopez.com, September 27, 2026

The public record

Searched September 27, 2026: the SEC, the FTC, the UK ASA, the US federal court docket.

Decided

  • No finding, order or settlement naming Tai Lopez, Website Monetization, “Social Media Marketing Agency” or “67 Steps” in the FTC’s case library or the UK ASA’s rulings, searched September 27, 2026. A web search of the Competition Bureau Canada and UK FCA sites found no page naming him.
  • No court has decided anything in the SEC case below, as of the docket’s update of September 25, 2026.

Pending or alleged

  • SEC v. Taino Adrian Lopez et al., No. 1:25-cv-24356, US District Court, Southern District of Florida, filed September 23, 2025, announced by the SEC on September 25, 2025. The case is about Retail Ecommerce Ventures (REV), which Lopez co-founded. Its business, the SEC says, was buying distressed retail brands such as Pier 1 Imports and RadioShack and selling them online. It is not about the SMMA program. The SEC charged Lopez, co-founder Alexander Mehr and chief operating officer Maya Burkenroad “with conducting a series of fraudulent securities offerings, misusing investor funds, and making Ponzi-like payments to investors”. It alleges they raised about $112 million from hundreds of investors between April 2020 and November 2022, and that about $16.1 million was misappropriated for Lopez’s and Mehr’s personal use. These are allegations. → SEC litigation release No. 26413
  • Where it stands: on September 14, 2026 the court recorded that the parties have “come to an agreement which if accepted by the Commissioners in Washington, D.C., and entered by the Court, would resolve this matter in its entirety”. As of the docket’s update of September 25, 2026, the Commission had not accepted it and the court had not entered it. The case stays administratively closed; the next joint status report is due November 10, 2026. → the docket

Opinion, ratings and press

  • Better Business Bureau: Tai Lopez.com, West Hollywood, not accredited, rated A+, 7 complaints in the last 3 years, all 7 closed in the last 12 months. The profile carries a “Pending Government Action” notice about the SEC case. Six complaints show a business response dated August 5, 2026 saying the buyer was refunded or credited in full; the SMMA complaint quoted under the price shows none. A rating and complaints, not findings. → BBB, read September 27, 2026
  • Trustpilot: 4.2 from 181 reviews, 55% five stars and 36% one star. The page says the company “hasn’t invited customers recently, so reviews may not be representative” and “Hasn’t replied to negative reviews”. Reviews, not findings. → Trustpilot, read September 27, 2026
  • Ours: the refund rule that binds you is the one in the terms. If a sales video or a salesperson promises your money back, get that promise in writing, with its deadline, before you pay.

What the price buys

  • Checked on the pages we could read: the AI Automation Consultant page promises to teach one service, “the Simple Time-Saving Service That Business Owners Will Gladly Pay For”.
  • The help page offers a phone call to “discuss your goals”.
  • The SMMA sales pages, which we did not read, may list more.
  • The kit has the business models and the steps, its price is on the page before you pay, and there is no sales call.

The answer

  • Established: the seller is Website Monetization, LLC. Its terms make all sales final except hard goods, send disputes to arbitration, and give you one year to bring a claim. The pages we could read print no SMMA price, and the AI page’s form asks your income and your cash in the bank. The seller calls its own earnings statements “aspirational”. No FTC case or ASA ruling turned up on September 27, 2026. One SEC civil case against Tai Lopez, over REV’s investors, has a settlement agreement waiting on the Commission. Nothing in it is decided.
  • Unknown: today’s SMMA price; what the program contains; whether a money-back promise made in a sales video or on a call holds against the terms; what buyers earn. The sources checked do not establish them, and the seller does not guarantee earnings.
  • Is Tai Lopez legit? The records checked hold no regulator finding against his programs. One SEC case against him, about his retail holding company, REV, is pending; no court or regulator has ruled on it.
  • Who it may suit: an adult who runs a business, wants to talk the program through on the phone, and has read the terms before paying. The terms say the site “is intended for businesses operated by adults”. Who it will not: someone who wants the price in writing before sharing their income and savings.
